THE MOVEMENT

The Always Strive and Prosper Foundation began as a memoriam of Steve “A$AP Yams” Rodriguez who passed away from an acute mixed substance overdose in 2015. Steven’s mother, Tatianna Paulino soon set out on a mission to educate herself on the issues surrounding substance use, addiction overdose prevention, and overall harm reduction.

Tatianna’s goal was to help at least one parent or family prevent the loss of a loved one by providing support and realistic facts about substance use, abuse, and safety.

With the help of family, friends, and members of her son’s professional network, Tatianna began hosting small gatherings to discuss the most immediate risks endangering recreational and regular drug users.

Within a short time, the ASAP Foundation was conceived and established as a non-profit organization curating community initiatives such as Fentanyl Test Kit distribution and out-reach throughout NYC as well as holistic events that center on giving back to the community, youth, and especially families that have been impacted by substance abuse and other socio-economically challenging factors.

Soon the support and guidance of experts like Dr. Carl Hart and other colleagues within the scientific and harm reduction fields helped define where Tatianna would best use her personal experience and perseverance to help others.

A more recent and impactful initiative has been the Foundation’s Fentanyl Test Kit distribution throughout New York City which now includes over 35 bars, restaurants, and event spaces that are routinely offering these safer drug testing kits to venue customers, patrons and staff. The goal is to continue to promote risk awareness, substance safety, and the normalization of test kit availability until there is a better system of legalization and safety without stigma and persecution.
